What affects option payoff?
A call gains intrinsic value when the underlying finishes above its strike; a put gains intrinsic value when it finishes below its strike. Premium and contract lot size scale the final payoff.
This is an expiry payoff model. Before expiry, implied volatility, time decay, interest rates, liquidity and the option's Greeks also affect its market price.
Common questions
How is option profit or loss calculated?
At expiry, intrinsic value is compared with the premium paid or received. The per-unit payoff is then multiplied by the selected contract lot size.
Does the calculator include brokerage and taxes?
No. The payoff is a premium-and-intrinsic-value estimate. Brokerage, STT/CTT, exchange charges, GST, slippage and other costs can change the realised result.
Can I calculate both calls and puts?
Yes. Select Call or Put and then choose Buy/Long or Sell/Short to compare the corresponding expiry payoff.
