When learning Pine Script, start with series data, inputs, conditions, plots, sessions and risk rules. A useful script is more than a buy arrow: it explains the data it reads, the timeframe it expects, the conditions that trigger a signal and the rule that invalidates it. Keep the first project small, such as plotting an EMA relationship or marking a session range.
Charting's Dovee is not Pine Script and is not presented as a drop-in replacement. It is an English-first strategy language designed for charting workflows: plots, conditions, indicators, sessions, simulated entries and exits. Research before you automate
A backtest is a research result, not proof of future performance. Check the date range, timeframe, fees, slippage assumptions, contract data and whether the script accidentally uses information that was unavailable at the decision point. Compare in-sample and out-of-sample periods and keep a record of changes.
For Nifty, BankNifty and Indian stocks, session and instrument details matter. An index, a futures contract and an option do not have identical behaviour. Charting lets you keep the chart context next to the strategy output so you can inspect why a signal happened instead of trusting a single performance number.
